We are pleased to announce that Millfields Cattery has been awarded a 5 Star Rating by Braintree District Council. This rating is the highest achievable award under the new DEFRA Legislation for animal boarding and welfare.
Millfields Cattery in Rayne is a 5 star licensed Cattery specially designed to meet all your cat's needs. Within easy reach of Chelmsford and surrounding areas Millfields Cattery is built to the specifications recommended by the Feline Advisory Bureau ensuring that your cat will be staying in a safe, warm and comfortable environment.
Each cattery chalet has an indoor full height compartment heated and fully insulated with a cat flap leading to an outside run. This looks out onto the garden which has been specially designed to give your cat visual stimulation and interest. Each chalet can take a maximum of two cats from the same household or we have several larger family chalets that can accommodate four cats from the same household.
Beds and bedding are provided but you are welcome to bring any of the your cats own bedding if you prefer.
We provide food for your cat twice a day. The food options we provide are:-
Felix, Whiskas, Gourmet and Sheba. We also provide dry food of which we have a large variety. Should you cat require any food other than these, i.e. prescription food or a specialised diet then we will ask you to provide it.
In the unlikely event that your cat requires veterinary treatment as a direct result of their stay with us, we have insurance to cover this. However our insurance will not cover any existing or re-occurring conditions that are not a direct result of your cat boarding with us.
We must insist that your cat is fully vaccinated and will not be able to accept any cat even on arrival if there is no vaccination card accompanying. This is a strict rule of licensing.
Whilst your cat is in our care we will endeavour to make their stay with us as stress free and as happy as possible so you can go on holiday with one less thing to worry about.
A collection and drop-off service is available during office hours for a small charge.
Monday to Friday: 10:30am - 2:00pm; Evenings 5.30-6.30pm
Saturday: 10:30am-2.00pm
Sunday & Bank Holidays: Closed
Prices from 1st February 2026:
One Cat: £16.00 per day.
Two cats sharing from same household £23.00 per day.
Three cats sharing from same household £30.00 per day.
Four cats sharing from same household £37.00 per day.
Prices include food and insurance and there is no extra VAT charge.
Due to the economic climate we are all facing we have to apply a £2.00 per day, per pen surcharge for heating. This is applicable from the 1st November until the 1st April.
Bank Holiday rates as above with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year's Day which are charged at double rate.
For cancellations within 14 days of the start date we reserve the right to charge the full fee unless we can re-let the accommodation.
If cats are collected earlier than the final day of your booking full payment will be required.
Millfields Cattery is situated in Rayne, Braintree, Essex close to the A120 which is very convenient for Stansted Airport and within easy reach of Chelmsford
and surrounding areas.
